Tempest 800mm (31.4") Wingspan from Skynetic - PNP - SKY1065-001

The Skynetic Tempest is a micro R/C airplane based off of the British fighter aircraft that was primarily used by the Royal Air Force (RAF) in the Second World War. Comes with ordnance and fully painted scale livery. Easy battery access and bolt-on wing makes this micro of a WWII classic a welcomed addition to any hangar.

This plane has kind of a small battery bay that makes it difficult to fit a gyro, receiver and everything else. I got creative and hollowed out some foam in the wing under the battery tray and mounted my receiver on the bottom of the battery tray.[Lemon 6 channel] I mounted a hobby eagle gyro on the top side of the battery tray towards the back. I think gyros are almost essential on these smaller planes. I ran it on a 3s battery first and found I was flying around full throttle all the time. this wont do. I installed a 40 amp esc in the place of the original 20 and run it on a 4s battery. 1000mah all the way forward. it flies with authority now! very stable and aerobatic, good power! I did the same with the Sky raider and it was quite a bit easier with that one! Highly recommended!

This...read moreAssembled very easily and flys very nice. I am using an MSR66A gyro receiver though as my only other RC plane experience has been the little 400mm volantex warbirds. This Skynetic Tempest seems to be very capable though. I have used 1000mah and 2200mah admiral packs and both worked fine. The 2200 I had to make room for my receiver under the battery tray. This plane is perfect for my backyard too and I would like to see other models in this 750-850mm range.

Easy to setup and needed minimal trimming out of...read moreAwesome flyer. Flying with a Turnigy 1250 3s pack with a 7:30 timer. still have some juice left at the end. Easy to setup and needed minimal trimming out of the box. Pitch is super sensitive, so using normal rates and 30% expo. Everything else 120% rates and 15% expo. I hand launch/belly land only and this has zero problems with either. Landing is EZ-PZ on ~20% throttle approach and then just float it down and chop the throttle.
